Rodent and Wildlife Control

Kernow Pest Control can eradicate and control a range of pests. Please call us to discuss your particular problem. Below is some general advice on some of the more common pests.

Rats or Mice?

If you have a rat or mouse problem, you may find droppings and footprints or tail marks on surfaces. Outside you may see trails through grass or vegetation or burrows in banks or beneath tree roots (mice and rates tend to follow the same paths). You might also find nests under the floor or in your loft. Watch too for signs of gnawing.

Rodent control is the answer. The existence of rats or mice in a building can be detrimental to both reputation and the actual fabric of a building. Rats and mice gnaw almost constantly on all kinds of foodstuffs and also non-food items, because their teeth grow continually. Even electrical cables and pipework are at risk. Droppings contaminate foodstuffs and food preparation areas.

Because rats and mice are adaptable and very mobile - and breed rapidly - getting rid of them is a difficult task for the untrained individual. Our fully trained staff will survey the extent of an infestation, then place poison bait in selected areas - and will then arrange a follow-up visit to be sure that the treatment has been successful. We can also suggest suitable rat repellents and natural pest control methods.

Kernow Pest Control can also help with mole deterrent and extermination.

Cockroaches?

Cockroaches are very resilient and - like most pests - breed very quickly. If you suspect you have an infestation, contact Kernow Pest Control at once!

To avoid a cockroach problem, it is important to keep bins covered and remove any waste quickly. Depriving cockroaches of food, water and a place to hide will keep them at bay. Kernow Pest Control can advise you too on the best way to block points of entry.

We have a range of products and techniques that will enable us to deal with any cockroach infesteation efficiently, preventing its spread and size. Specific insecticide sprays, as well as powders, can be used to treat the affected areas,

Fleas?

Fleas are a very common domestic pest, since they can be carried in on household pets. Their bites can cause distress and itching from the body's allergic reaction.

Fleas live in any organic matter - clothing, carpets, bedding etc. If you suspect an infestation, it is important to clean these thoroughly.

Prevention is better than cure! Make sure your pet's flea treatment is up-to-date, brushing and combing them regularly. Wash bedding at high temperatures to kill fleas and eggs. Vacuum carpets, curtains and furnishings regularly.

If you cannot control an infestation, please give us a call. We will eradicate the problem using the most advanced methods, without harming your home or pets.

Wasps?

Insect infestations are usually easy to control, although wasps tend to become a nuisance in late summer as the weather gets cooler. If you find a nest away from humans, you should leave it untreated. Wasps kills many garden insect pests.

If proximity to humans makes it necessary to destroy the nest, it is an easy procedure with a high success rate. Kernow Pest Control will apply a residual insecticide to the nest entrance or somewhere nearby in dust or liquid form, so that wasps entering the nest become contaminated. Call us!

Flies?

Treating a fly infestation is quite difficult. The period of treatment is long and problematic because of the life cycle of flies.

For complete control, everything needs to be eradicated from the egg stage. Cluster flies have a dormant period over winter which makes complete control very difficult. Good hygiene is important. Remove food waste promptly, reducing the number of eggs and larvae. At the fly stage, Kernow Pest Control can use various highly effective chemicals and non-chemical methods.
